Communication to Members about NATO

NATO 2025

Hub Members:

The City of Dayton will be hosting the North Atlantic Treaty Organization’s (“NATO”) Parliamentary Assembly from May 23 – May 26, 2025. This is an exciting opportunity to showcase our beautiful city globally. More information about the NATO Parliamentary Assembly can be found here. The Assembly is being hosted in Dayton to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the Dayton Peace Accords: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dayton_Agreement. The City expects approximately 1,000 people, including the 300 parliamentarians, their families, support staff, US Government officials, and guest speakers.

Much of downtown Dayton will be transformed into a “NATO Village” for the entirety of the Assembly. Given the nature of the event, and the Dignitaries attending, there will be significant restriction to road traffic, limited pedestrian traffic, and reduced public transit options (including RTA, taxis, and ride-sharing apps).

We expect the Assembly to significantly disrupt normal operations in the City, so this communication provides you with detail on how The Hub will operate before and during the event. Our number one priority is to ensure the safety of all members and staff, so we are being very cautious in our approach.

Boundaries of the NATO Village:

The Hub is currently not in the secured NATO Village, but it does closely border it. A map of the Village can be found here

Changes to this boundary may occur based on security considerations – especially as we get closer to the arrival of the visiting delegates and dignitaries. Most notably, the NATO Village will have limited vehicular accessibility, with some pedestrian access points throughout downtown. However, at the time of this communication, we have not been informed where those access points will be located.

Closure of the Hub – Tuesday May 20 – Tuesday May 27:

Based on recommendations from the Dayton Police Department, the City of Dayton, and the UD Public Safety organizations, The Hub will be closed from Tuesday, May 20, to Tuesday, May 27:

  • No Hub staff will be on the premises during that period. We will be collecting the mail and distributing it to the member mailboxes daily, there may be delays in the timing of the delivery as USPS may need to change routes.
  • UD Public Safety will have officers on the property during the period.
  • The Hub will be closed to all Members on Sunday, May 25, as the Assembly will be attending an event in the Rotunda that day.
  • This procedure will resemble other closures: Members can access the space during the closure period via the JustIn Mobile Application, other than on the aforementioned Sunday, May 25.

We based our decision on the safety of our staff and Hub Members, and the uncertainty that surrounds an event like this. For those reasons, we encourage you to work from home during the May 20-27 period.

We apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause you or your business.

We will continue to update you as the Assembly draws closer. Please let us know if you have any questions.
